Highways Turned Death Traps

The Accra-Kumasi Highway is one of the busiest roads in Ghana, serving as a major connection between the southern and northern parts of the country. Unfortunately, it has also become notorious for fatal accidents due to factors such as speeding, reckless overtaking, and poor road conditions. Today’s accident adds to the growing list of tragic incidents that have claimed numerous lives on the highway.

The Ghana Police Service has frequently urged drivers and passengers alike to be vigilant on the road, reminding them to observe speed limits and adhere to road safety regulations to prevent such tragedies. Today’s accident once again highlights the critical need for stricter enforcement of these regulations and the importance of road safety education.

Authorities Urge Caution

Following the crash, authorities have reiterated the importance of road safety, especially on major highways. The Ashanti Regional Police Commander, in a brief statement, expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and urged drivers to exercise extreme caution while driving.
