MTN Ghana convened a regional stakeholders’ forum in Wa on October 21, 2025, bringing together community leaders, partners, media representatives, and loyal customers. The forum, part of MTN’s nationwide engagement initiative, sought to deepen collaboration and promote transparent communication between the company and its stakeholders. It provided a platform for discussing MTN’s ongoing projects, infrastructure developments, and social impact initiatives while encouraging active feedback from the local community.
Mr. Joseph Dogbe, Chief Risk and Compliance Officer at Scancom, reaffirmed MTN’s commitment to advancing digital connectivity in the Upper West Region. He emphasized that dependable telecommunications services are critical for economic growth, noting that MTN has invested over GH¢1 billion in digital infrastructure across Ghana in the past five years. Of this, GH¢240 million has been earmarked for the current year to expand fibre optic coverage and strengthen 4G networks as part of preparations for nationwide 5G rollout.
Mr. Dogbe also highlighted new technological innovations from the company’s month-long “DigiFest” initiative, including the MTN DigiFest platform, designed to showcase digital solutions, and the MoMo Business App, aimed at supporting small and medium enterprises with efficient financial tools. Additionally, he announced the launch of Abena.ai, Ghana’s first multilingual AI voice assistant, which supports major local languages such as Twi, Ewe, Hausa, Ga, Dagbani, and English—enhancing accessibility for a wider audience.
On matters of governance and corporate responsibility, Mr. Dogbe assured attendees that MTN maintains strong transparency standards, promotes gender inclusivity in leadership, and prioritizes data privacy to align with global digital compliance norms while responding to local realities.
Madam Efua Falconer, Corporate Communications Manager, reflected on MTN’s 15-year journey in the Upper West Region and reaffirmed the company’s dedication to continuously improving service delivery. She noted that the forum in Wa is among several similar engagements conducted across 12 regions, with plans to extend the initiative nationwide. The discussions, she said, aim to foster open dialogue that ensures MTN’s services remain responsive to community needs.
Wa Municipal Chief Executive, Alhaji Issah Nurah Danwanaa, commended MTN for its contributions to local development but called on the company to address congestion at its Wa customer service centre. He suggested the establishment of satellite service points to enhance efficiency and customer experience.
Representatives from the local media, particularly community radio stations, also appealed for closer collaboration with MTN. They encouraged the company to support local media financially and produce content in indigenous languages, noting that such communication strategies have greater resonance with local audiences.
