The paramount chief of the Lawra traditional area, Naa Puowelle Abaifaa Karbo III has lauded Ghana’s leading telecommunications company MTN Ghana for their role in championing development and preserving the cultural heritage of the traditional area.

According to him, the telecom giant has for more than a decade invested in the areas of education, agriculture, small scale business as well as ICT and remained the headline sponsor of the Kobine festival which is celebrated annually to showcase the rich culture of the Lawra traditional area.

Naa Ngmenmaal Yobo III, Divisional Chief of Kunyukuo who doubles as Chairman of the Kobine Festival Planning Committee, made the comments in Lawra on October 2, on behalf of the paramount chief after receiving a check for GHC20000 from MTN Ghana to support this year’s Kobine festival celebration which will be climaxed on Friday October 3.

“The traditional area wishes to thank you for your continued support. We appreciate your contributions over the years towards the development of our area and the preservation of our culture”.

MTN Ghana also presented hampers and and souvenirs to the traditional council and awarded participating teams of a football gala that was organized as part of the one week Kobine festival celebration.

MTN Ghana’s Area Sales Manager of the five Northern Regions, Collins Agyei, who let some staff of the telecom company to present the donation explained that the company was fully committed to supporting the development needs of Ghana.
He highlighted area such us ICT, education infrastructure, business and other key sectors as area where the company has made significant investments to propel growth in the country.

“As a company, we share in the development aspirations of the country. This is the reason why we have invested hugely in key sectors of the economy to ensure that development is brought to the door steps of the people”.

Mr. Collins Agyei encauraged Ghanaians to patronize the products of MTN Ghana .

The Kobine Festival is an annual cultural celebration by the chiefs and people of Lawra in the Upper West Region to mark a successful harvest. The festival features traditional music from instruments like the xylophone, vibrant displays of culture, and the unique Kobine dance, serving as a time to renew ties with ancestors, express gratitude for the harvest, and promote the area’s development
